Fatih Savaşan received his bachelor's degree in Public Finance from the Faculty of Political Sciences at Istanbul University in 1993. He resigned and went to the USA to pursue M.A. and Ph.D degrees in economics. He received the degrees from the University of Colorado (Denver) in 1997 and from the University of Kansas in 2002. He served as an assistant professor until 2007 an associate professor until 2009 at Uşak University. In 2009, he joined the Department of Public Finance at Sakarya University and became professor in 2013.He was amongst the founders of the Research Centre for Islamic Economics and Finance (ISEFAM) at Sakarya University.He has been the rector of Sakarya University since 2018.
